About Pollachi

Pollachi is a town and a municipality in the district of the Tamil Nadu state of INDIA. It is located 40 km south of Coimbatore. It is an important commercial area in the region and has a big market for agricultural products. Coconuts and tender-coconuts are exported from here to all over India. coconuts and second biggest market in the country, the town has now become famous for cinema shootings and consequently a huge tourist attraction. Next to Coimbatore, Pollachi is the leading town in the district and an important commercial centre.

Pollachi is the nearest town to the Anamalai Tiger Reserve Forest. Due to its proximity to the Western Ghats, Pollachi has a pleasant climate throughout the year. Pollachi is also famed for its market, especially for Jaggery and cattle. The Jaggery Market in Pollachi is the Asia's biggest Jaggery Market

CARS (UK) "Club of the Year" by the RSGB.

Dear Norman,
Let me congratulate the Chairman, Hon. Sec and office bearers and Members of the CARS for being adjudged the "Club of the Year" by the RSGB.   I am really privileged to be associated with CARS as a Honorary Member.
Hats off to all who have made this possible.   I hope the Anamalai Amateur Radio Club will try to emulate all your activities and in the years to come try to get the honour received by CARS.

Please be kind enough to convey my heartiest wishes to the Club Members and other office bearers that your achievement is kindling me to train as many students as possible and bring them in to our fold.
Your untiring efforts are giving me the fillip to do as much to the student community as possible.   Keep it up and good luck.

The Award Day was celebrated by SHRI KRISHNAA VITHAYAALAYAM Matric Higher Secondary School,Divanshapudur (Post), Pollachi. The Chief Guest was Dr.Kannan IPS., The Superintendent of POLICE. Coimbatore. On that day Valuable information about the Ham Radio was given by the AARC President VU3GPF M.K.Anantha Ganesan and AARC Additional Secretary VU3IRH Ibrahim.

AARC President VU3GPF Ganesan visits to GX0MWT at Science and Discovery Day



Each year the Chelmsford Amateur Radio Society (CARS) run
a demonstration station GX0MWT
for the Science & Discovery Day at the Chelmsford Science and Industry Museum. This year they had a visit from Ganesan Ananthaganesan, VU3GPF
The event took place at Sandford Mill on September 27, 2009 and CARS had been invited by Chelmsford Borough Council to provide an Amateur Radio Station. Two stations were run, one from the 2MT hut inside the museum and the other from a caravan kindly supplied by Mark, M0IEO.
A Morse demonstration display was also provided by Colin, G0TRM, and Peter, G4OAD, which attracted much interest.
During the day over 1,000 visitors saw the Amateur Radio demonstrations. One of the vsitors was Ganesan Ananthaganesan, VU3GPF, President, Anamalai Amateur Radio Club (AARC), Pollachi, India.
Norman Crampton, M0FZW, had made contact with Ganesan, VU3GPF, who was in the UK at the invitation of the British Council. He was able to bring Ganesan to the Sandford Mill event where he was invited to be an Honorary Member of CARS by Chairman, John Bowen, G8DET, and presented with a CARS hat and mug. In exchange Ganesan presented John with a Indian hand crafted dish with a Peacock on it.

Dodabetta Test Repeater



AARC club already conducted a field test in Dodabetta on 1st and 2nd of August 2009.Dodabetta is the second highest peak in South India (Height of 2623 metres. Latitude 76 Degree 46` E and Longitude 11 Degree 25` North).
We got good reports from Bangalore, Cochin (Some Part of Kerala State), Pollachi, Coimbatore, Erode.Most of the Bangalore stations accessed our test Repeater with 5 watts.
Installing a VHF Repeater in Dodabetta is an aim of all Ham friends in and around Ooty. Thanks for the entire co operation from all friends for giving the report for the Test repeater signal.
AARC is very much thankful to VU2PCP OM.Panneerselvam President of VU2TCD Repeater Club for bringing his duplexer, repeater, and high gain antenna. & VU2YFS OM.Santhanam Coimbatore for his kind guidance for installing the repeater.

CONGRATULATE IRH FOR HIS EFFORT TO PUT A REPEATER AT THE HIGHEST POINT IN SOUTH INDIAI listened on 145000 on Sunday morning to evening and could not hear any signal except the local signals on the call channel.

Congrtas at the out come to u and all the fellow members and friends to make this this events successful.I tried to access the repeater on my way to Chennai from Erode via Mettur,Dharmapuri. I could not receive any signals from the rptr.May be my route was under the shadow or qrp or setup in my car!
Anyway it is an yet another attempt to gain the height and propagation condition to for the best of our VHF communication of ham friends.

Hi, I copied just beeps couple of times at 145.000. I am not sure if it came from the repeater. Otherwise, there was no copy at Chennai with my stacked vhf beam antenna pointed west, south-west direction from my qth.

Thanks, I have been hearing and able to access the repeater on 145.000 + Shift 51 at my location MK83TB north of Bangalore with a X500 diamond antenna. thanks to all of you over there to make this happen.

Congrats Ibrahim and team for the wonderful work. i could work VU2IRH 59 on simplex, but could not work on the repeater as i was not available during the time. i heard the beeps the previous late night as i tried to access the repeater. it was a long time wish of hams around here to have a repeater at Dhodabetta and hope you guys could do it. will support to any extend. The Shevroy Ham meet 2009- Fox Hunt


The Shevroy Ham meet 2009 was organised in Yercaud on Jan 25th & 26th 2009 and VHF Fox Hunt was conducted for first time in Yercaud Hills our AARC embers VU3MTR, VU3IRH, VU2TPP & VU3WCS participated in the fox hunt and our ANAMALAI AMATEUR RADIO CLUB got the First place.
The second prize winning team for the Fox Hunt headed by VU2DH Devdas from Chennai. and 3 rd place VU3NKK & Team. ANAMALAI AMATEUR RADIO CLUB thanks to VU2 PCP for the great effort to run the show as a single man and also VU2DPN conducting a good fox hunt.
