Pollachi is a town and a municipality in the district of the Tamil Nadu state of INDIA. It is located 40 km south of Coimbatore. It is an important commercial area in the region and has a big market for agricultural products. Coconuts and tender-coconuts are exported from here to all over India. coconuts and second biggest market in the country, the town has now become famous for cinema shootings and consequently a huge tourist attraction. Next to Coimbatore, Pollachi is the leading town in the district and an important commercial centre.

Pollachi is the nearest town to the Anamalai Tiger Reserve Forest. Due to its proximity to the Western Ghats, Pollachi has a pleasant climate throughout the year. Pollachi is also famed for its market, especially for Jaggery and cattle. The Jaggery Market in Pollachi is the Asia's biggest Jaggery Market

AARC President VU3GPF Ganesan visits to GX0MWT at Science and Discovery Day



Each year the Chelmsford Amateur Radio Society (CARS) run
a demonstration station GX0MWT
for the Science & Discovery Day at the Chelmsford Science and Industry Museum. This year they had a visit from Ganesan Ananthaganesan, VU3GPF
The event took place at Sandford Mill on September 27, 2009 and CARS had been invited by Chelmsford Borough Council to provide an Amateur Radio Station. Two stations were run, one from the 2MT hut inside the museum and the other from a caravan kindly supplied by Mark, M0IEO.
A Morse demonstration display was also provided by Colin, G0TRM, and Peter, G4OAD, which attracted much interest.
During the day over 1,000 visitors saw the Amateur Radio demonstrations. One of the vsitors was Ganesan Ananthaganesan, VU3GPF, President, Anamalai Amateur Radio Club (AARC), Pollachi, India.
Norman Crampton, M0FZW, had made contact with Ganesan, VU3GPF, who was in the UK at the invitation of the British Council. He was able to bring Ganesan to the Sandford Mill event where he was invited to be an Honorary Member of CARS by Chairman, John Bowen, G8DET, and presented with a CARS hat and mug. In exchange Ganesan presented John with a Indian hand crafted dish with a Peacock on it.
